Don't Go To Hell When You Die!!

Jesus spoke this verse in reference to the horrors of Gehenna

Hell is a real place that you do not want to go to!  The Bible teaches that Hell is the place of eternal punishment for those who die without knowing Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. Below are some verses that  teach us about Hell:

Hell is a place of torment where the wicked go to when they die:

And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;   And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom. Luke 16:22-23

And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence. Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment. Luke 16:24-28

Why do people go to hell?

People go to hell because they have sinned against a Holy and Righteous God.  The Bible teaches that all of us are born sinners and sin by nature:

"Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned." Romans 5:12

"As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one." Romans 3:10

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

  • The Bible teaches us that God originally created us in His image perfect. There was no sin in the world. Humanity was in perfect fellowship with their Creator, the Lord God. See Genesis 1:26-31; Genesis 2:1-25; Genesis 5:1-2; Psalm 8:1-9; Psalm 95:6; Psalm 100:1-5 and Revelation 4:11.
  • The Bible teaches that in this perfect world that God made, humanity, through Adam, chose to rebel against the Lord by disobeying His Word. Adam ate the fruit that God commanded him not to eat. That act of rebellion was sin. See Genesis 2:15-17, Genesis 3:11; Isaiah 43:27; Romans 5:12; Romans 5:17; 1 Corinthians 15:21 and 1Timothy 2:13-14.
  • The Bible teaches us that because of that one act of sin, we are now guilty before God and therefore must be held accountable:
    • "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all." James 2:10
    • "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." Hebrews 9:27
    • "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
  • Therefore people go to hell when they die because they have sinned against God.  Fortunately there is a way to escape hell!  It's through His Son Jesus Christ! Jesus took the wrath of God for us so we can be forgiven through Him.  See John 3:16 and Romans 5:1-11.

Hell is a place for all who have not believed in God's Son, Jesus Christ:

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.   For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:16-18

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. John 3:36

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23

Hell fire (Gehenna) is an eternal fire and those who go there also suffer forever:

Jesus states that the consequences of sin is Hell fire where nothing dies:

And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. Mark 9:43-48

The sinner will be case into Gehenna forever once they stand before God at the Day of Judgment:

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me no drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me not in: naked, and ye clothed me not: sick, and in prison, and ye visited me not. Then shall they also answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, or athirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not minister unto thee? Then shall he answer them, saying, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the least of these, ye did it not to me. And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal. Matthew 25:41-46

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:11-15

Avoid judgment for your sin! Receive today the gift of God by asking Jesus to save you from your sin:

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:   Not of works, lest any man should boast. Ephesians 2:8-9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.   For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.   For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.   For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.   For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:9-13

Call right now on the Lord Jesus Christ by admitting you are a sinner and that you have sinned against a holy God. Then believe on Jesus Christ by receiving Him as your personal Lord and Savior. Once you have trusted in Christ for salvation, you are now a Child of God and have a home awaiting you in heaven. Confess this good news to others about this wonderful salvation you have by the Grace of God!
