You Can Always Trust What God Has Said!

Numbers 23:19 teaches us an important truth to consider in our world of broken promises, lies, and constantly changing opinions. The important truth from Numbers 23:19 is that we can trust what God has said in His Word to be the truth because of the character of God.

Because of the Lord's character we can know the following from this verse:
  • Everything that God has addressed in His Word is true because He is unable to lie--"God is not a man, that He should lie."
  • Everything that God has said will happen because He will not change His mind--"that He should repent."
  • Everything that God has said, He will accomplish it--"shall He not do it."
  • Everything that God has promised will be fulfilled--"shall He not make it good."
This verse is important in helping you and me understand how we should view the Word of God. God is saying you can trust His Word because of His character.  We don't have to worry that God somehow will change the game in the midst of things--God has said it and that settles it. God is all powerful and able to execute His Word and does so everyday! Therefore, we can trust all His promises!

Here are some other verses about how we can trust God's character, and as a result, trust what He said in His Written Word, the Bible:

Malachi 3:6 For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.

Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.

Hebrews 6:18 That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us.

2 Timothy 3:14-17 But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

God is perfect in every way. God has spoken in His Word. Believe what He has spoken.  Trust in His promises.  Believe in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and be forgiven!

Hebrews 4: 12-16
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.
