"Let Them Turn Every One From His Evil Way, And From The Violence That is in Their Hands" Jonah 3:8

These words in Jonah 3:8 come from the King of Nineveh after he and the people "of Nineveh believed God" (Jonah 3:5). What caused them to turn to God? The preaching of Jonah that "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown." Jonah 3:4

Jonah 3:8 are words our country needs to hear this hour. Our country needs to believe God and turn from the wickedness and violence found in its hands. The Bible states "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap." Galatians 6:7

If our nation doesn't turn back from sin, we can only expect the judgment of God.  In the Old Testament, the Book of Obadiah says "For the day of the Lord is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head." Obadiah 1:15.  In the Book of Revelation, in the last chapter of the Bible, Jesus says "And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13 I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last." Revelation 22:12-13

God's judgment is coming. Just as it was coming to Nineveh, it will come upon America and the entire world one day. "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness." Romans 1:18  When will His judgment come?  No one knows except the Father:  "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." Matthew 24:36

The good news is that like Nineveh, each of us can change course today. Each of us can humble ourselves like the people of Nineveh, believe in the Lord, and be saved from the penalty of our sin!  "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

If we believe in Christ for salvation, we no longer have to worry about judgment for the Bible says about Christians "How ye turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God; 10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come." 1 Thess.1:9-10.  The Bible also says "For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him." 1 Thess. 5:9-10

The Bible also says elsewhere:

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. 2 Corinthians 5:21
My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous: 2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.1 John 2:1-2
For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die. 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. Romans 5:6-10
Jesus Christ defeated the power of sin through His work on the cross.  He arose the third day according the Scriptures. He is alive, He forgives and saves all who come to Him by faith. If you are ready to change course in your life--if you are ready to leave sin--follow the example of the people of Nineveh.  Turn to the Lord now and believe in Jesus Christ as your personal savior!

The Bible says:
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Romans 10:9-13
