Are You Ready for Your Upcoming Appointment?? Hebrews 9:27

There is an upcoming appointment for all people.  Are you ready?

A republish from our  Madison Baptist Church Facebook Post

All of us have an appointment that we will never be late for. That appointment is death. After death will come our judgment (Ecclesiastes12:14, Revelation 20:11-15).

Therefore, since we cannot escape this upcoming appointment (except if Jesus returns and Raptures the Church), the wisest thing to do is to be ready for the appointment and avoid God's just judgment.

Some people try to get ready for the appointment through good works or being nice to others.

Others try being deeply religious, hoping that their faith in their faith will somehow get them through God's judgment.

The Bible makes it clear that there is only one way to escape the coming judgment of God. That way is through faith in God's only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The Bible makes it clear that you don't have to do any work to be forgiven by the Lord (Titus 3:5). Salvation from sin is not something to be earned. It can only be received as a gift (Ephesians 2:8-9). That gift of salvation comes through trusting in Jesus Christ alone for salvation.

Consider these verses from God's Word:

1 Timothy 2:3-6
For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.

John 3:16-18
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

John 3:36
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Romans 6:23
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

John 1:10-13
He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Acts 16:31
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Romans 10:9-13
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Everyone can be ready for the immanent appointment.

The fact that you are reading this now means you have this moment to make sure you are ready. Are you ready? If you were to die in the next moment, where would you go? Would you go to hell? Would you go to heaven?

No one else can take your place for the appointment. You either face the appointment ready or not ready.

To be ready means you have placed your faith in the risen Jesus Christ for salvation, confessing Him as your Lord and Savior. You know your sins are forgiven because you believe that Jesus paid for your sins through His shed blood (1 John 1:7). You have believed in the Gospel for salvation. You know because you have believed in the Gospel, you are born again by the grace of God.

What is the Gospel? Here it is:

1 Corinthians 15:3-4
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Be ready for your appointment! Believe in the Gospel of our risen Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved!
